Welcome to The Idea Door ©

I have many ask will this web site keep going, are thing up to date, can I contribute, the answer is YES, to everything, ok well almost, I try to keep this site updated, but as with all of us life is busy, and I do have a life beyond this site, I have no plans on ending anytime soon, and if I do stop updating I promise to place a note on my site saying so. Many have asked if they can contribute, the answer is YES!! Please send anything and everything my way, the name The "IDEA" Door, is just that, open a door to a "world" of ideas, the best way to get ideas is from everyone, I know not everything I do or have on this site right now is want everyone is looking for, but if everyone who has an ideas, or a handout or something to share sent them in, can you image how huge this site would be. We all would have so much to choose from. So if you would like to share, please send it to me by email to info@theideadoor.com I would also love to offer more in other langue's, if you have something you can send in please do, or if you speak another langue and can translate, please email me.  Please remember this web site is FREE for all to use and gain ideas from, I don't ask for any donations or subscription payments, just print away, copy away and enjoy! (Although I do now have a "Clipart Page" where I do offer clipart for a small charge.) Thanks to many generous people for sharing their ideas and talents with us, because of these people this web site has MANY things, Please remember if you are having problems printing something or opening something go to our helps page, the best way to print things are to print from the PDF file, not from the image, and make sure you sign our Guest Book, I'd love to hear from you.

NOVEMBER 2006 - Cubs in Shining Armor
Welcome new "Cub Knights" into the roundtable of the den and pack.  Scouts learn about chivalry, the rules of the roundtable, and period art, making their own costumes and coat of arms.  Discover life as it was in the days of knights and castles.  Scouts may be "knighted" as they advance from one rank to the next.

DECEMBER 2006 - Cub Scout Stars
Learn of the constellations and the stars which light up our skies. Go star gazing or visit a planetarium in your area. Remember that the stars above are not the only shining stars - Scouts can shine as well.  They may offer service to others, and help the pack go by participating in skits, songs and ceremonies at the pack meeting.

JANUARY 2007 - Poles Apart
Learn about the North and South Poles, places where cold and ice are present 365 days a year! Learn about the brave explorers who traveled to the ends of our earth. Earn the Map & Compass belt loop and pin; practice with a compass and map; give directions to your home and school. Experiment with magnets and polarity. Discover the plants and animals that make the icy poles of the Arctic and Antarctic their home – including the penguin, everyone’s favorite flightless bird.

FEBRUARY 2007 - Aloha Cub Scouting
Learn about Hawaii, our 50th State, its culture, customs, games, language and food.  Discover how the first Hawaiians came to the islands more than 1500 years ago or that surfing originated in Hawaii. Learn how Hawaii was a separate country, ruled by its own kings and queens until 1893. Learn to speak the language, practice saying hello, thank you and the Cub Scout Promise in native Hawaiian. Try a special Hawaiian treat such as “shave ice” for your meeting snack. Make a lei from flowers to present to a family member. Play a Hawaiian game like Konami (Hawaiian checkers) or ulumaika (a game similar to lawn bowling). Have a luau theme for your pack meeting or Blue & Gold banquet this month.

MARCH 2007- Baloo Skies
This month Cub Scouts will learn how weather impacts their daily lives. Visit a local weather station and find out what meteorologists are doing to make better weather predictions or watch the weather on radar via the Internet or on TV. Learn about temperature, barometric pressure, and what makes clouds and rain. Make a rain gauge. See how the wind affects the land and oceans. Build and fly a kite with your den or pack. Build a tornado in a bottle. Learn what birds do to “weather” the storms. Invite a science teacher, weather forecaster or meteorologist to come to your pack meeting. Earn the Weather Academic belt loop and pin.

APRIL 2007 - Cub Cafe
Cub Scouts can experience the varied tasks associated with running a café. From planning a budget and menu, to food selection and preparation, to consumption. Cub Scouts can do it all. Visit a supermarket and learn about where food comes from as well as the benefits of comparison-shopping. Learn about table etiquette for both the waiter and consumer. Make a pack meeting a “Food Fair” where each den runs their own “Cub Café” and everyone enjoys a taste.

MAY 2007 - Cubs and Bugs Galore
Explore creepy crawly critters and discover the giant world of insects. Take a walk or hike and see how many insects – or their signs – you can spot. Learn the stages of an insect’s life and how some insects change inside a cocoon or chrysalis. Make a model of an insect home or build an ant farm. How does an insect survive the winter? Learn to treat bug bites and stings. Visit a beekeeper and taste fresh honey. Talk to a farmer, county extension agent or school biologist about the harmful and helpful things that insects do.

JUNE 2007 - Wheel Into Summer
Our bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, and scooters are fun provided we use them correctly. Learn about how bikes are used in other countries and in various types of competitions. How about having a pack “Wheel Fun Party” where you can demonstrate your skills and learn safety rules while having lots of fun? Remember to wear the correct protective gear such as helmets and pads. Conduct a pack Cubmobile race. Adult family members can be judges and help with a cookout or picnic. Don’t forget to look into electives that could be completed during the meeting as well as earning the Bicycling and Skating belt loops and pins.

JULY 2007 - Rockets Red Glare
Learn to sing “The Star Spangled Banner.” Find out how and why Francis Scott Key wrote our national anthem. Make water rockets and have fun getting everyone wet. Conduct a pack water rocket launch. Take the pack to see the local fireworks on the Fourth of July. Build a model of the kind of rocket that took people or a satellite into space. Earn the Citizenship belt loop and pin.

AUGUST 2007 - A Century of Scouting
Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Scouting by learning about Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Scouting movement. Take an imaginary trip to the very first Scout camp on Brownsea Island. Learn how Scouting came to the US and about the beginnings of Cub Scouting here. What famous Americans “present and part” were in Scouting? Find people in your town or family who were Scouts and make a pack scrapbook of their memories. Learn how Scouts in other parts of the world are celebrating the 100th anniversary. Make a time capsule for the Cub Scouts in your town to open on Scouting’s 200th birthday.
