Parade of Rooms

Here is a few example of how people did this activities:

We recently did an activity that is a spin on the “Parade of Rooms” activity.  We announced to everyone that we were going house to house to tour each girls’ room.  We met at my house and then loaded up into my van and went house to house. I had previously purchased used vases at the thrift shop for a quarter and filled them with flowers.  this was a cheap way to deliver a gift to each girl at their house.  If a girl didn’t come to the activity, we went to their house anyway to deliver their flowers and let them know they were loved.  We invited them to hop into the van and keep going on the tours with us. Almost every girl joined us.Some girls didn’t want to show off their room,  but they joined us anyway.  We just didn’t go to their rooms.  After we had visited every house ( we only have 9 girls in our Mia Maid class), we headed to the park to have ice cream and play on the kidee toys. The great part to this is that after going to every house and collecting missing girls, we then had a chance to interact with less actives at the park.  We spent our time at the park giggling, having fun and inviting less actives to future activities.  A great experience for everyone!

An activity that we have done about every six months (because you can only do 3 or 4 girls in a night) that they have REALLY enjoyed…. is an idea I either got from this list or YW connection.  That is the Parade of Rooms (spin off from parade of homes), where we have a few girls volunteer to show their rooms and we travel in a group from home to home where we have learned A LOT about each young woman as they have proudly displayed what makes them who they are (and they usually serve a little treat also).  This has been a fun bonding
experience…super easy as well!

Tonight I took my Miamaids and had made arrangements with 4 of the girls ahead of time to have their rooms ready for us to do kind of a Parade of Rooms. We jumped in my van and went to 3 houses which involved 4 girls and checked out their bedrooms. We talked about
their favorite things in their rooms, their favorite past time to do in their rooms and what their room would look like if they could decorate it anyway they wanted to. We saw the different interests of the girls from hard rock, “hottie” actors, Young Women Value, Sports teams, colors and personalities. The girls seemed to like it and we are going to do it again with a different 4 girls.. I learned things about some of my girls that I didn’t know. Like my hard rocker girl likes to sew… and one girl had sketches on her closet door she wants to be a fashion designer. One girl had an inflatable globe that her brother who is now on a mission had decorated and then she added to it and that was one of her favorite things in her room. We spent about 10-15 mins or so at each.
