I am so excited to share with you a beautiful song that was written for a Young Women's girl's camp. The theme for camp was "Believe In Me". You can listen to it by going to the following page, as well as download the sheet music for it -- FREE OF COURSE!

My very own Editor

I want to thank Kerry Haack for helping me, by being an editor for this site. At this time she is just trying to go back through all the pages I have and see if they need some help (which I am sure they will). She is only editing the text on the website not the files!

Thanks so much Kerry!

Cub Scouts

Scouting for boys 8 through 10 is a learning, happy, fun-filled, home-centered, activity program. Parental involvement and help are the keys to success in this program. The Church does not sponsor Scouting for boys younger than 8. Boys advance on their birthdays. No overnight camping for Cub Scouts is approved by the Church.

Some of my thoughts:

I have spent many hours in Cubs and Primary, so I have come up with many different things. I was hoping that someone else could use and enjoy some of my ideas! Or at least give you some ideas!
We have a Cub Book that we give to each boy as they enter the cub program. It is in a 3 ring white binder. We use the kind that has the plastic sheet on the front that you can put a paper in to make the front cover. When I give it to them the front paper is for cubs, but on the back of the paper is the one for Boy Scouts. When they enter the Boy Scout program at 11 they can change the front. On the side it says Scouts and at the bottom is their name. This book is really good for people who know nothing about the Scout program. It gives the basic steps of the cub and scout programs, and some helps.
In the back of the book I put an extra pocket and a plastic baseball card holder sheet. This is just the right size to hold the cards that the pins and badges come on. This is a great way to keep record and proof of receiving these awards.
This is the one book they need for all their years in Scouts. They can keep all the info they need, papers they get, and have it all in one place. I have also included a basic Eagle Project Packet.
If you have any questions or ideas of things to add to this, please E-mail me! Thanks

INFORMATION FOR SCOUT LEADERS from LDS.ORG
January 2004
A successful Scout program requires leaders who have a testimony of the gospel, time to serve, tenure in their callings, and training in BSA policies and practices.
How Do I Get Trained?

  • Fill out and submit a BSA registration form (this will include a criminal background check).
  • View the Fast Start training. You can obtain a copy of the video from your local council office, or view it online at your council website (for example, www.gslc-bsa.org).
  • Attend a local roundtable meeting to participate in New Leader Essentials training. Dates, times and addresses for the training can be obtained from your council office.
  • Attend training for the specific position in which you are called to serve. Dates and times for the training can be obtained from your council or district office.
  • What Is My Responsibility for the Faith in God Award?
  • Help orient the boy and his parents to the Faith in God for Boys guidebook.
  • Remember, where Scouting is authorized, Scouting is activity days for boys. Find ways to combine activities in the Faith in God guidebooks with Cub Scout and Eleven-year-old Scout activities. Many activities fulfill requirements in both programs (see reverse for examples).
  • Help the boy complete two activities in each of the three areas for each year he is in the program. When he is eleven, he will complete five additional activities from the section.
