A Teacher’s Prayer

If I can teach them more of thee
A way to live more reverently
To serve all men unselfishly
And love thy truth wholeheartedly
If I can give them courage strong
Teach to meet life with a song;
If I can mold one character
Into a pattern fine and pure
If I can bring them nearer thee,
Then I shall merit truthfully
The task entrusted now to me
And bear my title honorable.
