Young Women Personal Progress Marathon

I am in the Stake YW Presidency in Southern California. We decided to have PP marathon to help kick off the year. It was a little daunting at first but so worth the work at the end. I wanted to share the idea with you all because it went sooo well. Our President had found the idea on Pinterest for one at the ward level, but we wanted to go bigger. We offered 15 different classes from the value experiences in 11 different time slots. First we picked the classes we wanted to offer and then asked the wards to get the girls to sign up for what they needed. (we decided that if they were all updated online with the LDS.org webpage it would have been easier to see what everyone needed) Then we prayed about which teachers to have teach. We typed up teacher student schedules and also prepared an activity (we did sewing PP packets) that they could do if they didn’t have a class. We also had computers up and running to help them input and learn how to use the online PP website. We served them lunch and then a snack in the afternoon. We even used some of the older girls who just needed their 10 hour project or honor bees to teach a few of the classes and sewing activity. Some girls just came with their ward and then sat and read the BoM for Virtue’s project.
What the leaders and girls said that even having a block of time set aside for PP helped them focus on it realize it is not as overwhelming as they thought.
