On this topic, we several times held a wonderfully fun & educational “Personal Style” night. We had three parts:

1. STYLE
Fill out a questionnaire to determine if your personal style is:
Sporty, Romantic, Classic, Trendy, Dramatic, or Casual VERY interesting info! But of course I have lost the questions. Anybody have something like this they can share?

2. SHAPE
We did a body-shape evaluation by alphabet letters. NOT as scary as it sounds 😉
We determined if each person (leaders went first!) was an:
X – shoulders and hips the same proportion, with a smaller waist
V – wider shoulders with narrow hips
H – straight up and down
W – prominent bustline (dominates your actual shape)
A – hips wider than shoulders/chest – most common

Then we showed how different styles of clothing balances and flatters body shapes. (The way to determine body shape is to trace around the person on a chalkboard and simply measure across and compare – hee hee. SIZE doesn’t matter, it is the balance of your
proportions!)

3. HAIR
Face shape analysis, oval, heart, round, square, diamond, and then we had an expert in to demonstrate and discuss hair cuts and styles.

We did this event successfully, so every girl felt more beautiful
and excited to enhance her own features.

4. COLORS
Another idea: do the seasonal colors analysis: Spring Summer Autumn Winter.

5. CLEANLINESS
Basic cleanliness and grooming are always useful and fun – with little samples to hand out to the girls.

6. FACE
We have also had makeup demos (by a local MaryKay rep) and then taken photos. Actually we did this after we finished a major project – sewing our Pajama Pants! Then we wrapped up with a B&W fashion shoot, with gorgeous faces and our fun and funky pajama pants. Crazy poses and props made the evening a delight.

7. ETIQUETTE
Do you know how to climb into a high SUV in a skirt? Gracious or at least polite telephone talk? How to set a table? Fancy napkin folding? How to accept (or turn down) a date? How to end a date? Have a night for practice of these unusual and amazingly charming skills!
