THANKS!!! What a great idea!
Ward Activity for Christmas: The Streets of Nauvoo
Not a traditional Ward Activity, my mother-in-laws ward did this and it was soooo cool!
You make food assignments to every auxiliary. Except YW/YM. The food that was served was really simple. The main dish was soup. (2 or 3 different kinds) Homemade breads (any kind that would compliment soup.) w/ homemade jams, honey, butter, etc. Fudge or cookies and homemade pies for dessert. And fresh lemonade or water. Then you set up “booths” (each auxiliary to decorate and run at activity). Can be an in-expensive thing.
The YW/YM are to be assigned making Pioneer toys for the children to hand out at the party. The ward that did this had the “wooden teddy bear shimmying up a rope” toy.
Depending on size of ward, can vary on how many booths you do. They also set up a talent booth. It gave achievement day girls the opportunity to display the things they have been working on. Many women displayed their embroidery, quilts, etc. Very neat.
They also had someone taking family portraits that they developed in “sepia” to make them look antiqued. Another thing they did, not necessary, but neat… they had someone who works with welding/metal to fashion an iron rod ornament with a tag that reminds us all to “Hold to the Rod”. The ward choir or a volunteer choir could also sing to invite the spirit.
